Fort Ritchie Community Center to host teen summit

CASCADE — Youths from around the area are invited to attend a teen summit April 27 focused on job skills and career planning.

The Fort Ritchie Community Center in Cascade, on the former Fort Ritchie property, is hosting its inaugural summit as part of its youth job skills development program. The program and summit are sponsored through a partnership with the Rural Maryland Council.

The event will include workshops, a keynote speaker and a catered lunch from Chipotle Mexican Grill. Those who register by April 24 will be eligible to win one of many prizes, including an iPad, Nintendo Switch or a DJI Spark drone.

The free event is for those ages 12 and 17 who are interested in learning more about the skills for which employers are looking.

The summit is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and conclude by 3 p.m. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.
