Computer, internet skills development classes available

Garrett County Community Action Committee and the wireless internet provider NeuBeam have teamed up to offer a series of classes designed to broaden an individual’s knowledge of computers and the internet.

“Effective Internet Searches/Learn ‘How-To with YouTube” is scheduled for Sept. 18 at 1 p.m., Sept. 21 at 4:30 p.m. and Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.

“Facebook/Social Media/Chat with Friends & Family via the Internet” will be held Sept. 26 at 1 p.m., Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. and Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.

“This is a great opportunity to increase your computing skills and your knowledge about utilizing the internet more effectively,” said Gregan Crawford, Community Action’s vice president of strategic initiatives. Each session will last one hour and will be held at the offices of Garrett County Community Action located at 104 E. Center St., Oakland. A one-time $10 fee for the first class is due at entry, and all subsequent classes are free. The sessions are free for existing NeuBeam customers. Although some devices will be available for the classes, all are welcome to bring their own device. Light refreshments will also be served.

Participants are required to RSVP in order to attend as space is limited.
