Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) Rural Telehealth Grants

The Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) will be accepting grant applications for two new projects, one using telehealth and one using mHealth. These are two separate funding announcements. Applicants are welcome to submit two separate Letters of Intent (LOI) each with unique use cases in response to each announcement.

Telehealth Technology Project – Round Five:

Telehealth Technology Project – Round Five aims to demonstrate the impact of using telehealth to increase access to health care and improve population health in rural communities. Submission of primary care and behavioral health related use cases are encouraged. The proposed use case must serve patients located in at least one county on the Eastern Shore of Maryland (i.e., Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, and Worcester). For any questions pertaining to the telehealth grant announcement, please contact Christine Karayinopulos, christine.karayinopulos@maryland.gov.

Improving Patient Outcomes using mHealth Technology Project:

The mHealth technology project aims to demonstrate the impact of using mHealth to promote patient engagement and improve patient outcomes. mHealth uses mobile technology (i.e. smartphones, tablets, wearable devices) and mobile applications to increase patient engagement in their own health. Findings will be used to support the advancement of mHealth in Maryland. This grant announcement is not intended to fund a telehealth use case. For any questions pertaining to the mHealth grant announcement, please contact Justine Springer, justine.springer@maryland.gov.

Grants Announcements Details:

Each announcement has a funding total of up to $100,000 to be competitively awarded to one or more projects for an 18-month time period and requires a 2:1 financial match. LOIs are due to MHCC by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on August 25, 2016. Select applicants with outstanding LOI submissions will then be invited to submit full applications to MHCC, which will be due by September 29, 2016.
